Scripture: Jeremiah 13-15, John 15
John 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you shall ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it.
What an outrageous promise! I assume that Jesus knew that if we remain in Him and His words remained in us, it would transform our desires. We would want what He wants and ask for it, and He would happily grant those requests.
So how do I remain in Jesus and have His words remain in me. One idea: start with the words. For example, what might happen if we committed the words of Jesus to memory, and used some of our discretionary thought time to mull those over? We are (to some degree) what we think about. Or said another way, “Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a life.” It starts with our thoughts.
Here’s what I’m going to do: memorize John 15:1-17 (it’s a start) and let it permeate my thoughts this week.
Prayer: Lord, I want Your words to remain in me. Help me embed Your words in my mind, memory, heart and life. Let them change me until I want what You want.
