Jesus teaches us to pray boldly about this spiritual warfare. This was a lived prayer for Jesus. He engaged head on with the enemy! We ought not be blind to the spiritual warfare waged through temptation, what those temptations are, and who our enemy is.
Releasing Resentment. Jesus teaches this principle in the Lord’s Prayer: forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Do we really know what we are praying? Do we take forgiving each other seriously enough?
Forgive us our debts. To pray “forgive us our debts” implies we have a debt that needs to be forgiven. That we owe God something. We’re all familiar with that feeling. We all have stories of times we’ve failed or screwed up. We all have a debt that needs to be forgiven.
Give us today our daily bread. Whether we realize it or not, our relationship with God is centered around our dependence – around a confession that we place ourselves in surrender to God.
