An anchor for our lives

Scripture: Hebrews 5-8

Hebrews 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for our lives. It is safe and sure, and goes through the curtain of the heavenly temple into the inner sanctuary.

We have this hope as an anchor for our lives.

Hope is a confident expectation of good.  God has given us promises—promises of His abiding presence, promises of His goodness in this life, promises of abundant life now and eternal life forever, promises of Christ’s return and God’s Kingdom come.  So many promises!  And these promises give us hope—that confident expectation of good coming our way.

So many people are hopeless.  And to be hopeless is to be adrift.

In Jesus we have hope and this hope is an anchor for our lives, safe and sure, firm and secure (NIV).  We are not adrift aimlessly; we are not blown about my every passing wind of trouble or insecurity.  We are anchored in hope; we are anchored in God’s goodness.  We are anchored in Jesus.

Today, I will reject every fear, every worry that would blow me around, and will anchor myself in my hope in Jesus.  I will be full of hope!  And I want to be a hope-giver—passing on this hope to others who need it.

Prayer: Lord, fill me with hope and let it overflow on those around me!  Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
