Scripture: Deuteronomy 22-24, Galatians 4

Galatians 4:7 So then, you are no longer a slave but a son or daughter. And since that is what you are, God will give you all that he has for his heirs.

Observation/application

Yesterday, I spoke from John 15, where Jesus said that we are no longer slaves, but friends, for He has told us everything He learned from His Father.  Here, Paul says we are no longer slaves, but children of God, and as children, we are heirs, and God will give us all that has for us.

When Laina and I die, what will we leave to our children?  Everything!    Everything we have will pass to them.

Paul uses this picture to portray God’s generosity towards us who trust Him.  We are His children and He wants to give us everything!  His plans for us are good beyond our imagination.  His generosity is larger than anything we have dreamed.

God wants more for me than I can imagine.  J.B. Phillips wrote a book called Your God is Too Small.  Most of live with a view of God that is greatly reduced from the reality.

Prayer: Lord, free me from all my small ideas of You, and help me to live confidently as Your son, Your heir, Your friend.
