Scripture: Ezekiel 38-39, Psalm 145, Revelation 20

Psalm 145:4 What you have done will be praised from one generation to the next;

they will proclaim your mighty acts.

Observation/application

Here is a Think 3 psalm!

This is a psalm of praise that begins with the psalmist’s own commitment to praise the Lord.  “I will proclaim your greatness…I will thank you for ever.”  Why?  “The Lord is great and is to be highly praised.”  God deserves it!

One of my favorite songs right now is “You Deserve It” (JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise, featuring Bishop Cortez Vaughn—check it out!).  It’s a terrific gospel song with a few simple phrases: “My hallelujah belongs to You.”  “All of the glory belongs to You.”  And, “You deserve it!”  I’m listening to it right now as I type this.

I will praise God because He deserves it.  He deserves my love, my adoration, my devotion, my praise, my worship, my obedience, my everything…

Then the psalmist takes it a step further.  We not only offer praise to God, but we offer praise of God to the generations coming up behind us.  “What you have done will be praised from one generation to the next.”  This is the Think 3 part—we tell the stories of what God has done, first in Jesus (His story), and then through Jesus in our lives (our stories).  We pay His praises forward.

God not only deserves our praises to Him; He also deserves our praises of Him to all around us.  From one generation to the next, we tell the stories of God’s goodness and greatness.

Prayer: Lord, You deserve it!  You deserve our praise and adoration!  Help us not only to worship You with all our hearts, but to declare Your praises from one generation to the next!
