In your face!
Scripture: Exodus 28-29, Acts 7
Acts 7:51-53 “You stiff-necked people with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit; as your ancestors did, so do you. 52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They even killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become. 53 You received the law under the direction of angels and yet have not kept it.”
Stephen was a stud! He knew that his life was in danger, but he refused to mince words or soften his message. In your face!
He tells the Moses story, and uses it to show how their ancestors rejected Moses, whom God sent as a leader and deliverer. “As your ancestors did, so do you.” They had followed suit, rejecting Jesus, whom God sent as Lord and Savior, “whose betrayers and murderers you have now become.”
I sometimes care too much what others think, and soft sell the message. I don’t think God wants us to be deliberately obnoxious—this is not an argument to be jerks! But there are times when we need to be clear and direct and unequivocal.
I will be bold, clear and direct when sharing the gospel. I will care more that I clearly declare the gospel than that people like me.
Prayer: Lord, help me care more about others than myself, and let that result in boldness and clarity in sharing the gospel.
