Jesus is all

Scripture: Colossians 1-4

Colossians 1:28 We proclaim him…

Colossians 2:9 For the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ.

Colossians 3:11 Christ is all and in all.

Paul’s letter to Colossians is full of Jesus.  These verses are a sampling.  It’s all about Him: the supremacy of Jesus in every way.  Jesus is God in the flesh—fully God, fully man.  Jesus is all.  Jesus is our message.

I was initially struck by Paul’s simple declaration in 1:28, “We proclaim Him.”  Paul’s message, the gospel, is Jesus.  This is what we share with others: not an ethic, not a philosophy, but a person, Jesus.  This is the central content of every message I give.  But it is also what we share with our friends and neighbors.  Too often, we make our message about something else.  It’s simple: we proclaim Him.  Jesus.

Paul models this in Colossians.  Jesus is always the issue.  Jesus is the star, the hero, the message in every chapter.  It was a great reminder for me.  Make it about Jesus—with everyone, every time.

Prayer: Lord, help me keep in simple, and keep it about Jesus!
