God takes pleasure in you
Scripture: Psalm 149, 1 Corinthians 15-16
Psalm 149:4 (Praise the Lord…) For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.
(NIV: For the Lord takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with victory.)
Observation/application
In this psalm, Israel is called to praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, sing to the Lord a new song, be glad in your Maker, rejoice in your King. For…the Lord takes pleasure in His people.
I needed to hear that this morning—that the Lord takes pleasure in His people, specifically, me. I saw the image of a father delighting in his son, not because the son had done anything remarkable, but just because he was his son. I believe that God takes pleasure in me and you like that. And I need to be reminded. Sometimes life wears you down, and it’s good to know that God takes pleasure in you, that he looks at you and smiles and is pleased and delighted.
That’s a good reason to praise the Lord and be glad in Him.
Prayer: Today Lord I’m rejoicing in You because You take pleasure in me!
Good words Pastor Joe!
Imagine this that the God and Creator of this whole universe takes pleasure in me….someone who has done absolutely nothing or at times just the opposite doing things that the Lord does not take pleasure in, yet HE takes pleasure in me.
How good is that to know every day, Thank you, Sir!
