Come boldly

Scripture: Hosea 10-12, Psalm 73, Hebrews 4

Hebrews 4:15–16 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Observation/Application

This is the low hanging fruit in today’s reading—one of my favorite passages.

By sharing our humanity and becoming one of us, Jesus understands our weaknesses.  When I’m struggling, I know that Jesus understands.

Recently, I spoke with a friend going through prostate cancer surgery.  I’ve been through that, and he told me that it was nice to talk with someone who’s been through it and understands what it’s like.

That’s Jesus.  He understands what we’re going through.

The author of Hebrews makes the application for us: so come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.  Pray boldly!  Jesus understands, and will give us mercy and grace to help us when we need it most.

Don’t ever hesitate to ask God for help.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for this remarkable promise.  Remind me to come boldly, pray boldly and expect nothing less than your mercy, grace and help.
