Make me successful today!
Scripture: Genesis 23-24, Luke 12
Genesis 24:12 Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.”
Abraham charged his servant to go back to Abe’s native land and find a wife for his son Isaac from his relations. The servant took an oath to do as Abraham wished, knowing that it could be a long shot. What young woman would want to leave her family and friends to move far away and marry a stranger? Long shot.
So the servant began his journey with prayer. “Make me successful today.” It’s a great prayer! It wasn’t a selfish prayer—make me successful in what I want, make me rich, make me famous, etc. It was a prayer for success in his assigned task from his master—“and show kindness to my master Abraham.” It was about accomplishing his assignment, doing the will of his master.
This is my prayer today. I want the Lord to lead me, guide me, provide and direct so that I accomplish what He assigns. I want to hear, “Well done good and faithful servant.” I want to be successful at doing the will of God!
Prayer: Lord, make me successful today at doing what You want me to do!
