Dawn to dusk

Scripture: 1 Chronicles 22-23, John 10

1 Chronicles 23:30 They are also to stand every morning to give thanks and praise to the Lord, and likewise in the evening.

Observation

When the temple was built in Jerusalem, the Levites were no longer responsible for moving and maintaining the tabernacle. So David reordered their duties. This chapter describes those new duties, including this one: stand every morning and evening to give thanks and praise to the Lord.

Start the day with praise and thanksgiving, and end the day that way too. Evidently, David thought God was worthy of our first and final thoughts each day.

Application

This is descriptive rather than proscriptive. But what a great way to start and end each day! What if I began each day with a few moments of thanksgiving and praise to the Lord, and ended the same way? How might that change my day, my attitude, my life? Maybe all the in-between moments will be better!

Let’s try it. I’m going to do it this week and see what happens. And ultimately, it’s not about me; it’s because He is worthy!

Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun to its setting, let the name of the Lord be praised.

Prayer: Lord remind me to start and finish each day with praise and thanksgiving because You are worthy!
