Leave your worries with God

Scripture: Lamentations 1-2, 1 Peter 5

1 Peter 5:7 casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.

Observation

There is so much to consider in this chapter, but I landed on this simple verse. Cast all your cares on God because He cares for you. This was a Greek idiom that meant you placed all responsibility for your cares and worries on God. It meant that you stopped worrying and placed your trust completely in Him. Leave all your cares and worries with God. Why? Because He cares for you. What a promise!

Application

We have a song for this verse, and today I’ll be singing it, reminding myself to cast all my cares, leave all my worries with God, because He cares for me.

The past couple days I’ve caught myself worrying some concerns, fretting not casting. Today—and all this week—I’m going to turn every worry and care into an opportunity to worship, to trust God because He cares for me. As Paul said in Philippians 4:6-7:

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Turn every worry to prayer. Trust Him, because He cares for you.

Prayer: Today Lord I give You every care…because You care for me.
