The best advice

Scripture: 1 Chronicles 4-6, John 2

John 2:5 His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”

Sometimes the best advice is the simplest.

When the wine ran out at a wedding in Cana, Jesus’ mother asked Him to help. Then she gave the servants this instruction: “Whatever He tells you, do it.”

The servants did what Jesus said and ended up being part of a miracle: water turned into wine. And not just any wine. The master of ceremonies commented, “You have saved the best wine until now!” (V. 10) Jesus does all things well (Mark 7:37).

Whatever He tells you, do it.

One of the simplest definitions of a disciple of Jesus is someone who listens to Jesus and does what He says.

Today I want to follow Mary’s advice. I want to listen to Jesus and do whatever He says. And if I do, I may get to be part of a miracle!

Whatever He tells you, do it.

Prayer: Lord, I love You. Help me today to listen and obey. It’s easier said than done. I can be a poor listener—help me. And when I hear, help me do what You say.
