The Way

Scripture: Isaiah 17-18, Psalm 105, Hebrews 9

Hebrews 9:8 The Holy Spirit is making clear that the way into the holy place had not yet appeared as long as the old tabernacle was standing.

Observation

The author of Hebrews argues that while the tabernacle (or temple) was standing, it was clear that “the way into the holy place had not yet appeared.” Later (10:19-21) he says that Jesus came and inaugurated “a new and living way” into the holy place by His blood.

Jesus is the way into God’s presence. This is why we pray “in Jesus’ name.” It means that we come by His authority—He is the way to the Father (John 14:6).

Application

Short and simple today. I’m so grateful that Jesus is the way to the Father. My sin kept me from God; Jesus forgave me and removed that barrier and opened the new and living way. I come to God a sinner, but I come in Jesus’ name, forgiven and accepted and welcomed by the Father.

Today, I’ll be thanking God for sending Jesus to be the Way!

Prayer: Lord, I love You and I’m grateful that You opened the way to the Father. I’ll come to You in Jesus’ name.
